Strays

To be a stray in Russia
in Romania or in Greece
is to know what hell is
and to hope you find
some true release
for the experience is wretched
life on the streets is vile
the humans are not human
they are full of hate and bile

nothing really nice about them
hammer carrying louts
who walk about and want to harm
all the down and outs
their own people are attacked
so what would we expect
as cats and dogs beaten with logs
burned stabbed they eject
us forcefully out of windows
hangs us up from trees
cut our legs off every conceivable
torture if you please

and they do not feed us
or they poison what the give
some have had their ears cut off
or are skinned and forced to live
through that vile experience
hung up on a nail
as some sick human pulls their skin
right over their tail

These 3 countries offer
true Hell on the street
its bad enough in Poland and in Britain
but to compete with Russia Romania
and of course Greece we’d have to say
their world is going quite insane
and madder by the day
