Romania has recently passed a law that she
will slaughter any stray dogs on the streets
that they now see
so we can expect real carnage
which really is a shame
everyone is at it there
they treat it like some game
poisoning, and hanging and setting them on fire
Romania is sinking in its very own dark mire
but out in Transylvania Bram Stokers
place of joy
the wild wolves still create their place
in the forests they employ
their stealth and all their prowess
the Carpathians was where
these mystic souls like shadows
learned to be aware
wolves are silent souls significantly so
they can slip into ones space
and some may never know
wolves are so adaptable, time
has taught them how
to cope with human beings
who are seldom in the now
its curious the dogs that
came down the aeons they
have ended up worse off it seems
for they are made to pay
for the shortcomings of the two legs
with all their mighty power
but out there in the mountains
are as dainty as the flower
confronted by the storm clouds
and the prevailing hail
torn down and blown skywards
part of their own sad tale
wolves though are adaptable
and can live along side
the two legs if they have to
seemingly denied
the freedom and the wildness
as dwellers of dire doom
they are able to subsist
and prosper this despite the gloom
of run down broken towns
they manage, they are versatile
survivors and emotionally
creatures of great style
so much is on their shoulders
and I know they are aware
much more so, than the two legs
imprisoned by despair
hauled up in their hatred
their prejudice their pain
unable to see the picture
or hear the wild refrain
solidly so selfish
imagining the world
owes them all a living
the wolf though he is hurled
forth into the chasm
and takes it with such verve
having suffered many hardships
and building up his nerve
he wanders, being shot at
he hides he knows the score
they come down from the mountains
with their blazing guns of war
out of helicopters they fly
above him, they
show only hatred for him
and he is made to pay
but up in the Carpathians
a refuge big and wide
with care a great facility
and we wolves are inside
the wilderness protects us
the two legs still are frail
and so we run their gauntlet
along the wild wild trail
