in the wet filthy litter
a body was found
death was almost upon him
a sound
came from his throat
he seemed to be alive
a, gasping breath
could he survive
he was a poor rake
all bones and skin
sad little eyes
and abominably thin
and he in this
underworld
preparing to die
rescued and taken
but please tell me why
this was an RSPCA approved farm
this was the epitome
supposed to be calm
all of these piglets
in the sick bay
marked up with when
they would go on their way
to be slaughtered
it just brings those tears
flooding fast
and they have the cheek
to threaten
I am aghast
Hell does it have to be here
is that so
its so unspeakable
and quite a blow
for human beings
to act in this way
to treat little babies
like this, on this day
when rescue uncovered
this awful scene
of cannibalism
and what was so mean
why do we do this
to sweet little souls
making them live
and die in such holes
whatever you eat
whoever you are
this is wrong
this is vile
and it does unseat
all that is good in us
for if we care
we wouldn’t allow
them to still be in there
we all are at fault
the system s wrong
farmers who do this
do not belong
to farming
they do not belong
to humanity either
for this cannot be
acceptable anywhere
we must not see
this kind of behaviour
this kind of place
this is no farm
its a place of disgrace
thank goddess they found them
and rescued them they
could not save the piglet
who just passed away
who felt the warm hands
of someone who cared
but alas for that piglet
just couldn’t be spared
