Our ignorance their arrogance

How out of touch
and thus complicit
so many of us are Today
really in all walks of life
we felt clearly
we were au fait
our life was our life
and we just carried on
from day to day
spoon fed with the
corporate nonsense
that kept us
going on our way

we were up there
with all the news
and all the happenings
so we thought
but clearly spoon fed
we naively
quietly we were being bought

we sort of felt that we had freedom
to work all day to do our thing
but we were really on a treadmill
hoodwinked on a kind of swing
out beyond the realms of living
far across the azure sea
there were others suffering mayhem
which did not occur to me

indigenous people the first people
they were there before we came
they were the guardians of the planet
wild but we would have to tame
them and we duly tamed their spirit
killed them off and stole their land
took their freedom and gave them nothing
plundered their fruits and gave them sand

it really wasn’t ever spoke of
it happened very far away
the deaths and all the vile destruction
of a people day to day
Money, Prostitution, alcohol
took its toll and sunk into
their consciousness the weakened spirit
tore great hole in spirits too

and left the mighty armies rampant
they took over the sacred lands
tearing forests mining minerals
stealing with their bloodied hands
freedom became the ugly war cry
the corporate clout was heightened by
the greed and arrogance in the moment
its was so easy to watch them die

sago palms and mangrove forests
primary forests all were there
respecting the gods and what they were given
but clearly now so unaware
of the involvement of corporate monsters
who came to plunder and to rape
suffering was so apparent
as clearly they did change their shape

and the indigenous were very simple
native people easy prey
as their beliefs were so eroded
even their hope frittered away
How out of touch
and thus complicit
so many of us are today
really in a wild wild world
given to believe we are all au fait
but in point of fact
we are lost souls really
on a treadmill much the same
we are the new indigenous people
unaware
and mostly tame
