Lost for 3 years and just found( but nobody wants me)

I suppose that there are circumstances
when owners cannot cope
but being lost for 3 years
and turning up
you would hope
you could get back, to living
in the place where you had been
but instead you hear
they don’t want you
despite being tired and lean
and sick
and full of murmurs
despite your torrid state
they have turned their backs
and walked away
and left you to your fate
how you had so loved them
how you had thought of them so
how you had hoped one day to see
their smiling faces show
but alas reality is free
reality has proven
they don’t want you any more
they won’t even come and see you
even if you were at death’s door
the love you gave mean’s nothing
they are happy without you there
and now of course you stay
in East Lake Veterinary clinic
not a million miles away
someone may come forward
to help the likes of me
yes I have some problems
but I have a heart still, free
its beating like it always did
and I promise I will be good
I will lick the hand that feeds me
like in fact I always would
so help me will you help me
don’t leave me here to die
I promise I will be faithful
just give me a try xx
