Not a modicum of difference
between Dairy and Meat
which ever path the poor cows tread
it does become a feat
for human engineering
and profit enters fast
with all its mundane gearing
and its outrage clearly cast
the Dairy, hides behind the fact
of milk and cheese and cream
the cows are treated terribly
much worse that it does seem
their diets seldom include grass
and wild herbs any more
and instinctively they suffer
their udders getting sore
often by the time their milk
is lessening the game
is over for the dairy cow
more often and not, she’s lame
stuck inside for ages
no sunshine on their backs
no fresh green grass to speak of
I’m afraid these are the facts
de-horned and branded
tails torn off and lots of pain
between
udders burned of all those hairs
farming is less than green
cows are raped consecutively
their calves stolen away
often fed on GM soya
almost every day
treated with those chemicals
and given a hard time
their milk goes to the human tribe
to acidify their chyme
the fear factor is commonplace
the emotions shot to bits
they are beaten and shocked all the time
frightened out of their wits
and when they do stop giving milk
its the slaughterhouse where they
end up throats slit hung out to dry
they suffer and they pay
the piper for their inordinate and
commiserate display
of grief their calves then taken the time
the rainbow bridge
is beckoning in the distance
beyond the primrose ridge
often lame perhaps a downer
no longer is your gait
able to walk to the truck
and nobody can wait
and so they get a fork lift truck
and man handle you until
your breath gives out
and there’s do doubt
that is when they kill
compassion has no significance
its important that you die
that you get strung up on the chains
your throat slit which is why
your legs are hacked off possibly
and your skin is torn off too
a dairy cow gets no respect
which apparently is true
The Beef cow
might see grass sometimes
a week or so before
its due to hit the slaughterhouse
and all that blood and gore
it certainly gets no respect
and gets its share of cruelty
farm animals are tortured
and end up progressively
,
lost in fears of shock and awe
the irony of choice
death comes swiftly to the soul
who also has no voice
so this is the prognosis
whether meat or dairy
the animals are not thought about
the faint hearted are wary
to be a cow in this vile world
is to my mind hell itself
neither path is comfortable
there’s very little stealth
its in your face each moment
cruelty and pain
you become their commodity
its really what they can gain
in financial terms from what you are
what you give that’s all
you really have no other use
that has to be the rule
and I don’t see it getting better
though the vegan tribe increases
still there are so many uses
and your cut to pieces
utilized in many ways
by many trades that’s you
man un kind to you he’s blind
and I’m afraid that’s true
