Petra ( a rhesus monkey who gave part of her life for corporate experimentation)

Battle scarred and wounded
lost to jungle life
taken from the freedom
of the forest
to the knife
the scalpel, and assorted tools
that carved in her great wounds
Petra was a Rhesus Monkey
operated on by loons

invasive cerebral surgery
fur shaved off, and cuts made
mentally she circled her cage
as life did fade
torment and lack of compassion
yelled at her on the floor
her sacrifice was never seen
neither her blood nor gore

she gave herself to what they felt
they needed
corporate cleaning products may be so
rhesus monkeys suffer
quite extraordinary scars
broken hearts and sadness
the tears flow
within, she cried full bucket loads
of tears she did
her mental state so faded by it all
round and round
she circled in her dirty
little cage
until the day
she met with Dr Ghoul

who killed her with his scalpel
another low life who
might wear a crisp white apron
but a torturer who would do
any operation on a sickly soul who gave
in to all this vileness
and now lies still in her grave

at least she is at peace now
no more experimentation
no more digging in her brain
no medical predation
RIP means just that
and hopefully at last
the rainbow bridge has opened
and in that jungle she is cast
