If you are a baby calf California is one place you don’t want to be born (babies are killed every second)

Being born a calf in California
land of sunshine
some might think that so
but new born calves are
kidnapped from their mothers
and then put in a cage
really, to know

the evil that abounds
in dairy farmers
far from charmers
what they do, today
is all to do with money
which isn’t all that funny
it goes against all Nature
had to say

babies should
stay with their mother
clearly
not be shunted somewhere
else where she
won’t be
the nutrition that calf needs
goes to human babies
and maybe
that includes yes you or me

if we partake of cows milk
on our cereal
or we’re daft enough
to take some with our tea
or cream upon
our strawberries
or butter on our bread
our habits kills the calf
that’s rights the calf is gone

used for cheese coagulation possibly
or chopped up in a pie
or in some brawn
possibly they go off into pet food
out of sight
anyhow
to find their rainbow dawn
