Sea birds affected by what we throw away

Plastic beer collars
are clearly a pain
discarded as garbage
blown in wind and rain
on beaches and park land
where birds curiously
get them on their heads
its a threat tragically

when it happens
of course they can’t then get free
they just cannot breathe or eat
and they be
frustrated and frightened
for what can they do
but hope someone sees them
and just helps them to

its a threat to our wildlife
that we can prevent
if we see these collars
lets be content
knowing we picked them up
and put them somewhere
where some wild soul
cant reach them
and save that despair
