Anti depressants

Anyone with a spark
of imagination
who is asked to take
the anti depressant pills
if they choose to read
the accompanying literature
will realise that taking
them just chills

the marrow in one’s bones
for all the side effects
put there to absolve
the corporate crowd
one look at the labels
I was given
8 years ago
and I felt overwhelmed
seeing a cloud

stay away from any of these products
they are designed to complicate
and we
are complex enough
now
we don’t need
their holy cow
we have to share
our feelings
learn to love our space
create and share
and be aware
bless each others grace

to hear that
US soldiers
and returning vets
are caught
up in
this scenario
is quite beyond my thought
I can’t believe the conspiracy
that is was mean’t to be
you devalue
a fine resource
for the payback financially
or do you
possibly if that payback is enough
they do say we all have a price
and that passing this up
is tough

but to me anti depressants
are like a JCB
brought into crack a walnut
when inside ourselves we see
a conflict. but
it was not heart stopping
and whatever we can do
throw away the telly
and the newspapers too
forget the propaganda
and love one’s partner, and
spend time in the forest
just walking hand in hand
