Elephants and Ivory

For years we’ve seen it coming
and now its here and we know
if this criminality continues
the elephant victims grow
it will be quickly realised
The elephant will be
extinct and gone forever
no longer will we see
that great and wondrous being
running through the wild
playing in the mud holes
alongside its sweet child
and of course we know its all
because of Ivory
the stuff of Kings and Queens
and those who know
people clearly, lots they look the other way
and the elephants being slaughtered it does grow
insidious is this vile and highly profitable
trade with China and its got to be
the market has been growing a big spanner they’ve been throwing in the survival for we see
hundreds being machine gunned out in Africa
poachers,hunters call them what you will
they get a ransom for the wholesale slaughter
and clearly now so many they do kill
unless the world wakes up and stops this happening
Elephants are doomed I have to say
all those working in the bush to save them
can’t match the ugliness and the dismay
caused by what is evil yes evil in our midst
and a lot of people at it unlikely to desist
so the writing is now on the wall for Elephants
humans beings are a greedy breed
they’d rather kill and maim the greatest living soul
so the Ivory traders can succeed
Animals rights and conservation people compared to all the rich who want to buy
Ivory for investment or whatever are out numbered and out gunned I wonder why?
