A child suddenly thinking(whilst cuddling a piglet)

And what we are taught
where does our knowledge come from ?
parents, schools, the internet
from where?
do we know to love the animals
the pigs, the kids, the calves
or just look at them in complete despair
do we see the piglets
as a sausage?
do we see a calf
as tasty veal?
do we see the chicken
as a drumstick?
really in our souls
what do we feel?
does our parents
shop in those big markets
BOGOF’S every single
bloody day
3 for 2 and 2 for free
piglet pieces
yes they be
fried up with some ketchup
and now inside of me
is my body
just a common graveyard
for those piglets
or would I rather see
them play
in the farm yard
everyday
nobody now asks me
no one seems to care
but honest I would rather
see a piglet standing there
smiling at me
grunting so I could cuddle it
not all chopped up and roasting
on slow revolving spit
its little eyes closed tightly
its skin all crisp and dry
its little heart stopped suddenly
when it was forced to die
