The Wolf ( Man must look at himself before pointing his fingers at wolves)

The wolf to me
has got to be
the most amazing soul
lied about
shot at
but she’s still in control
yes we know the hunters
in Yellowstone would say
wolves are vermin
wolves are targets
they have had their day
with their camouflage
and their 4×4’s
and their hearts dried up inside
high powered rifles
powerful bows
and all they do denied

The wolf to me
whose eyes can see
the foolishness of men
slaughtering apex hunters
we must ask them when
they lost their sensitivity
to nature and to those
who place themselves
in forests
for to us, it clearly shows

a lack of understanding
a treacherous deceit
a savage concentration
a creative, elite
who see the wolf as walking
on a higher plain than man
and judges them,when really
they are part of a big plan

The wolf to me
has got to be
allowed to run and roam
we steel into his habitat
we take away their home
we concentrate on selfishness
on our arrogant desire
and fail now to absolve him
accusing him of fire

and brimstone, but in point of fact
the innocent they know
wild children of the forest
must be allowed to grow
its us who concoct stories
that blacken and declare
the wolf to be a monster
who can only bring despair

The wolf to me
is everything
that man in fact could be
who has not allowed
corruption to destroy
his clarity
instinctively he possesses
closeness to his source
and that is why is held to be
an extra evil force

Man I do resent this
for the feeble minded do
run out in the wilderness
oft high on some sick brew
not in control of senses
there’s a mayhem in their head
prejudicial pimpernels
who want every wild soul dead

and the wolf is seen as up there
with the evils and despair
we’ve woven these sad stories
and they’re printed everywhere
werewolves born in Hollywood
roam the hearts of those
children in men’s bodies
who hang from life’s gallows

kicking, twitching demons
remnants of the truth
on opening their mouths, we hear
how terribly uncouth
they are and just so ignorant
but often they have power
to overcome the meek the mild
the wolves who will devour

the weak there is no question
and hunters who would dare
to come upon a pack
and fire their guns into the air
would be ill advised to imagine
that they’d ever turn and run
for here’s an apex hunter
who will turn on any gun
