I’m an Orangutan
I’m a wild boy
an arboreal ape
with a heart full of joy
I swing about most days
I eat on the hoof
with a nest in the canopy
and leaves for my roof
that was my thing
the wild life for me
and my brothers and sisters
our world was the tree
not a stuffy wire box
with a cage
at the front
honestly humans
what kind of stunt
are you pulling
to put me in such
a foul frame
left in a draught
with a sick human name

fed on stale fruit
and left here to be
frustrated, sedated
nauseated that’s me
once brachiation
was how I got by
from branch to branch
oh! boy I did fly
now all cramped up

a cage is no place
