Nocturnal calls

I reach you
in the dark hours
when the ebony curtain falls
when trees become just silhouettes
and the nocturnal calls
are evident above
the peace and quiet
that of’t one hears
tis then I do embrace
the night
with all its abject fears

I reach you
in the silence
where shadows fear to tread
where creature’s eyes
shine avidly
to where my eyes
are led
its curious that feeling
of closeness that we share
for when our hands
are locked together
we could be anywhere

I come to you
when all the world
is sleeping
I feel your pulse
your heart beat
and each breath
that’s when the badger
leaves his sett
and wanders
that’s when the fox
is frightened half to death
not by the two of us
sat in our thicket
nor by the thought of man
who comes to snare
nor by the evil krone
who casts her spells
around the forest
but by the thought
that all of us there

I come to you at night
when peace is relevant
when light does not prevail
each silent place
I share the spiders
rich determination
and once again see
light in your sweet face
I marvel at the closeness
of our being
at a time when bats
negotiate their way
through sentient paths
that crumble on reflection
tis then my love
tis then that I do say

the reason that I come to you
at all my dear
is to feel the warmth and
passion in your soul
and darkness brings its
softness to each episode
and as lovers we do play
a fervent role
with a true degree of deity
and spirit
we sleep festooned by everything
that’s real
so truly sempiternal
for within each dainty kernel
the crux is
really how we both do feel
