Psychically my garden is something special

In my little garden
just outside my window
Plant elves are at work
and what they do
is encourage all those
pollinating insects
to come and help their charges
to get through
those dark days when the storm clouds
and the hailstones
have their way
teaching them to draw down deep into themselves
and say
They hover on my Rosemary’s green tufts
abseiling they
swing on the Convolvulus
to pass the time of day
those funnel shaped flowers
inside them, some do lay and bask
tasting the sweet nectar
held inside each flask

in the morning light
lots of leaves just everywhere
snaking left to right

to kiss her, is to taste
the scent that wafts within her
from the beauty of her face
red ballerina’s pirouette
each pistil pitched to send
a seed into oblivion
to honour and distend
alchemists are everywhere
the phenomena exists
Astragalus is searching
for selenium and lists
those who fail to understand
the value of just how soon
but can’t know of its fascination
of the plant towards the Moon
a smothering of certain plants
all singing the same tune
leaving the field fallow

for wildness returns nutrients
that probably now are
lacking, so protecting the wider universe
and of course the precious substrate
from getting any worse
The plant elves know the chemistry
they understand and do
provide a perfect medium
for humus to accrue
its all about life’s balance
a concept mankind shuns
instead, his artificial stuff
he goes to town great guns
acceleration follows
unsustainable advice
the biosphere is hurting
it isn’t very nice
selectively the uptake
can be, seriously, flawed
creating future anomalies
in the wider ether stored
In my little garden

a frog sits in the litter
gulping down sweet air
a Robin whose inquisitive
looks at me from time to time
thinking he might be the one
to change the paradigm
a little of the knowledge
which he very clearly knows
but all he sees me doing
day and night is writing prose
