My Copper Beech Tree (after a light pruning)

There she stands
Majestically
lighter
well, slimmed down
lots of minor branches gone
symmetrical
her gown
of crimson shot with
olive
sucks the sunlight
and
really looks a picture
on this piece, of England.

her tresses dancing avidly
smooching in the light
flutteringly crazy
a really pretty sight
standing proud
in Bridgewater Road
her residence to date
sunlight on her
smooth grey trunk
tonight she
looks sedate.

the rosemary stumps
grubbed out and chopped
the elm stump cut right down
the wild rose
grubbed up also
the sky over the town
tonight scallops of pale
flushed cloud
in wisps of salmon sky
against a backdrop
of the palest blue
spangled troughs on high
