The lovely lilly pilly tree

Can never be a silly tree

it really is so joyous to behold

festooned with gorgeous purplish fruit

sweet and sour  and bound to suit

Also known as Jambo’s

a flavouring aid in OZ

But really rather thirst quenching

In Cavedish Park I saw

Picked the berries and filled my mouth

With acidity galore

No wonder wild birds love them so

They really are surprising

Used in Jams and Jellies

and sort of tantalising

A park of many colours

Kangaroos a plenty

Cassowary, Kookaburra

Flora, Fauna there

It really is a lovely place

Where keepers come and show their face

Koala’s,owls and other beasties

happily do share

The blooming Lilly pilly Tree

So joyous to behold

Stuff a couple in your mouth

and on them you’ll be sold
