A decorator par excellence
A man I hold in high regard
Full of authenticity
Resolute, and in my book starred
Trustworthy, and reliable
His obligingness and artistry
Meticulous and thorough
Bounded with alacrity
nothing really phases him
He quietly gives his all
He transformed our drab interiors
and every single wall
has taken on an energy
For He is the man to call
a genuine hard worker
Respectful of your place
credible and reliable
His workmanship is ace
observant and unruffled
the finished job supreme
scrupulously neat in what he does
assuringly a team
of Christopher his trusted friend
wall papering his art
they quietly engender confidence
really from the start
my home is on
a public footpath
overlooking mountains where
Dolgellau’s postcard energies
are up for grabs where we can share
Cymru and it’s heritage
Abermaw the place
Dan his enduring deftness
presented with such grace
a stickler, for quality
nothing left to chance
affable And kindly
his main wish to enhance
what was a tired old fashioned
Look
into an exciting family nook
using quality paints
with standards high
an enthusiastic kind of guy
quietly caring, beyond the norm
His exacting performance
his manner, warm
amenable and very fair
a quality that I believe is rare

FOR REX
A Thank-You in Rhyme
Rex, you’ve lived a life or two
Seen half the world with a poet’s view
Yet still each day in Wales you find
A kindness rare, a gentler kind
Your house, once just a railway shed
Became a home with stories spread
We painted room by room inside
While Metallica met Tracy Chapman’s stride
You’d travelled far for work and art
To choose each product with your heart
From Dominica’s shores to markets wide
You walked the world with steady pride
And as we talked of hills and rain
Cader Idris looking in again,
You’d marvel at your neighbours’ care
A warmth you never knew was there
You wrote a poem with my name
I’ll not pretend that isn’t fame
So here’s one back, in honest tone
For one of the best new friends I’ve known
A vegan voice, a green-belt soul
A spirit steady, true, and whole
Thank you, Rex, for days made bright
For trust, for chats
Dan Griffiths replied to my poem
for his fantastic service on my house
a mark of the fine gentleman he is
