Gemma

A paramedic
I just met
She came around to see
If Watford was my chosen haunt
In an ambulance
And free
No payment up front necessary
Blood pressure tested too
Injections against sickness
Tried and tested true

A lass with lots of training
Full on she knows how
Systolic and dystopic
All this knowledge now
She just passed on like crazy
And to me and I felt great
Whisked into the A&E
Despite it being late

She came all the way from Welwyn
That’s a place not far away
Just a little village
That’s what she did say
Any palpitations?
I didn’t know what they were
But Gemma was a proper gem
And her sparkling did occur

Beautifully on the journey
Information she
Got my confidence blowing hot
And paramedically
Deposited me in A&E attended to by those
Taking blood and checking this and that
Down to my toes
The driver she was Holly
Another ode for her
They both came in to wish me well
Both of them just were
Fabulous caring thoughtfuls
If you are ever Ill
And need a ride to Watford
Through the frost and October chill

It’s Gemma you must look out for
and Holly her side kick
A poem for her tomorrow
A queen of Dunstable if you are sick

See you again some time
