My chickens

When I was a little boy
Short trousers and long socks
I looked after ten chickens
And got my share of shocks
Feeding them each morning
They would peck my legs sore
But gradually when they realised
I brought wild food
The more
I brought
The less they pecked at me
I soon became a friend
That’s when they kind of realised
That the pecking had to end
