Joyful refrains

I am a Copper Beech
In a poets garden
I look in his study
No plea or pardon
It’s late November
A bright crisp blue
Sky above me good and true
Spangled golden leaves hang fast
Whispering melodies of the past
A crow or three sat aghast
Joyful refrains watching him write
