“Bessie”

Bessie was a fighter

a street dog  who must be

wide awake and ready

But  what happened  tragically

she had a little barney

with a vehicle and she

Sustained a compound fracture

of her backleg and we see

a frigteningly deep gash

in her side and she

was collected by the angels

and taken to a place

painkillers and some surgery

and within ten days her face

was happier she was eating

Glorious again

free from all the dirt and filth

and of course the pain

a week and she was up and wagging

Getting love each day

cuddles are the greatest gift.

and the easiest way

To feel loved again.
