Summer Solstice at the Stone Henge

The longest day and the shortest night

and though overcast

and far from right

weather wise

the Cotswold souls

met up again

to relive their roles

the talking stick had its special place

to hear the news

and share the space

wrapped up in  Salisbury air and plain

enshrined by Sarsons

once again

it was lovely to meet chums again

clad in cloaks

a druidic chain

of  evenness and blessings shared

the certainty that time had spared

all so pleased  to meet and greet

to hear  good news

It was  for me a treat

To see  you all

and chat away

The juices flowed

and it made the day

perfect really

the cud we chewed

the trees around

of course we viewed

all sorts of greens

Grass moss verdure

Lime and greengage ever pure

ideas exchanged

stories told

each soul worth their weight

in gold

our Cotswold tribe

they are the best

Discover,  invest

true colours test

the eyes, the heartstrings

everywhere

vivid colours

born to share

knowledge of the Cotswold kind

does things to a tired old mind

Injects some love, some joy some care

veraciously we became aware

of missing each other

this Covid thing

torn apart  hearts couldn’t sing

before the lockdowns and the rest

but today folks seeing you all

was best.

I love you all

your facets gleam

You are  nicer  than the best ice cream

seeing everyone of you

really made my dreams come true
