Working animals

Be unfeeling is something that many
Apparently have toward animals who
Are freeborn but taken to work hard as slaves
Apparently that’s what they do
Logging and carrying sees our compassion
Well non existent alas
Being unsympathetic to anothers feelings
Is not an attribute it’s crass

Elephants dragging great logs of wood
Imagine the damage the stress
On their legs and their feet
On their hearts it’s no treat
With mahouts unrelenting no less
It is back in the last when machinery
Wasn’t the major event
But now we have tractors and earth moving machines
And animals sure are spent

Inhumanity guides these decisions
Surely a hardness of heart
Animals struggling pulling like mad
A mahout wielding a stick
Ready to censure the animals
Really this makes me feel sick
We see it in Thailand
And Vietnam and out in India too
Given no quarter, relentlessly who
Still feels the need e these poor souls
Struggle and fight In unfortunate roles

Where is the wisdom where is the care
Being responsive for every soul there
Empathy sympathy
Samaritans we
Must realise
That they were born Free
A Godly emotion
A gift actually
Not a bloody workhorse
Back from history
