German circus the worst of two worlds

The evil eyes are everywhere
In Reutlingen today
They call themselves a circus
With animals that pay
A high price to just to be there
Five elephants by name
BETTY NANDA TONGA KIMBA
AND MAMBO
They inflame
every sensitivity
For pachyderms when made
Should not be Forced to Carry out
Burdens that are laid
Acts of vilest cruelty
Senselessness and pain
Unforgiving and vindictive
Which is no way to gain
The confidence of pachyderms
Whose dispositions are
Tolerant and responsive
And so it’s very far
Away from their benevolence
And the German way
Which involves persecution
And oppressive acts each day

The Germans just lack humour
Ill natured one might say
Callous and cold blooded
It’s the German way
Tyrannical and haughty
A clash of feelings here
And spitefulness and severity
Brings on the waves of fear
Bull hooks whips and stun guns
Create a rancorous stew
That puts the elephants backs up
Which no one ought to do
To brutalise and torture them
As Pachyderms they be
Very highly sensitive
But obligingly
Ready to be friendly
But equally ready too
Made unforgiving
And disloyal and to view
The hostile and unfriendly
The brutal and the rough
The swearing and the aggression
And captors acting tough
Spitefulness and viciousness
Is a malignancy
It gets indide our heads
And then all that we can see
Is unkindness and savagery
And all their pent up fear
Made to do such silly tricks
Just all through the year

Travelling all over
Threatened day and night
Lots of sabre rattling
No one to invite
Care and understanding
It’s relentless every day
They just want their pound of flesh
And in every single way
Sled pulling through the snowy parts
5 sledges every trip
Through the snow and ice
We are made
The frost too it let’s rip
It’s terribly uncomfortable
Trudging through the snow
Carrying the children
And their parents as you know

Suffering from frost bite
The cold it hurts our feet
Our Ears and tails are sensitive
Standing in the street
Suffering the ingratitude
Of everybody who
Demands that we continue
To just do what we do

And it’s all about wrongheadedness
Which is a German trait
They kind of look down on us
Like to discriminate
We are unworthy and not entitled
To expect respect at all
We are shouted at and beaten
And chained against the wall

For them it is our duty
To be talked down to each day
To be beaten with the whip or hook
For that’s the German way
It is our bounded duty
To give in and to strive
To commit and to engage each day
Really to survive

They neglect us
That’s for certain
The irreverence that’s here
There isn’t any honour
Only hours of fear
Scoffing mocking sarcasm
Thats every single day
And always so unflattering
In every single way

They rile and so emphatically
Getting under our skin
Wear away and make us sore
Animals cannot win
Despised to slave laboriously
Humiliated we
Spurned by all their puerility
And superiority.

And never any approval
No kudos for the soul
Not a speck of admiration
Just a niggling control
Fault finding and black looks
And disapproval every day
This is life in Germany
For its the German way

The five of us
Have our own selves
To share the stints each day
We clearly help each other out
Emotionally we pay
Attention to each other
And suffer yes of course
The vagaries of circus
Which is rotten at source.
