Chicago’s inconsiderateness

In the heat
The forgetfulness
Now Our concern
We suffer in silence
As our feet burn
Carelessness everywhere
Asphalt and stone
Vehicular violence
For we are alone

In touch with the surface
The vibrations too
So many oblivious
To what we all do
Hauling their carriage
Their body weight
On our tired legs
An unruly gait

The heat and our hooves
The soul and the beat
Distraction and diversions
Nothing is sweet
Not any more
Fewer people that care
All they want out of life
Is just to get there

In our feed
Glyphosate
It weakens us so
It’s used as a desiccant
That much we know
But it weakens our legs
And it frightens us too
What man does to man
And in fact does to you

In our sensitive lives
In the Chicago heat
Dragging much fatter bodies
The so called elite
From Delaware Place
To the North Lake shore
To dinner to all sorts of places
And more

We do feel uncared for
Intended and we
Do feel unloved
Unprotected we be
We compete with the traffic
So much unconcern
And on top of all that
Many now burn

It’s hot
And it’s smelly
Insanity flies
In the face of the sensitive
And the surprise
So many humans
Are apparently
Stuffed up on goodness knows what actually

We collapse in the end
Just fall down and die
Nobody cares
And now you know why
