Snowdrop

It blossoms in wild February
When doubtless snow and rain
And even hail may come to fall
All part of a chain
Of events each
dainty drop of snow
White blossom on a winters day
If upright it would catch and spoil
And far sooner sadly melt away
It bows therefore more modestly
And Is able thus to modify
It’s scales within each tiny bulb
Hopeful seed will multiply
A gentle sloping countenance
timid and quite shy
Self effacing and unobtrusive
And now we all know why
