“Jeremy” POSSUM

Despite our historicity
And the outback being our place to be
Still the criminal throwback creed
Don’t want us wild souls
To succeed
They shoot some any time they can
When they are feeding it’s their plan
To gun them down and hang them they
Flog their corpses Everyday

K-roo are an outfit they
Process them or so they say
And Aussies around the place
Fill their guts with each embrace
Despite their iconic quality
They are dead meat apparently
And so some caring mothers try
To find Aussie angels who apply

Who will put them up in spaces where
The angry crowd are not aware
Rooves and barns and cellars where
We come and go But hunker down there
Spaces with the angels who
Love us like our brethren do
Us Roo’s and POSSUMS are obliged to be
Looked after by them constantly

We can come and go
safe in the knowing
They have our backs
whilst our babes are growing
What happened here
was an eviction
It happens shooters
its their addiction

The criminal set
their spivery
Is set on killing
actually
And when they came
his mother left
And I got Jeremy And was bereft
With grief but knew
I could take him in
And love him as my own
The spin
I put on all of this is I
Now have dear “Jeremy” POSSUM and he can fly
When he is old
enough but he
Otherwise would be dead you see.

POSSUMS ROO’s it’s all bad news
