Ran amok

At some Buddhist Pageant
In Sri Lanka so I hear
An elephant has run amok
It’s was very clear
It had been painted different colours
And dressed up like a clown
in all it’s foul regalia
walking through the town
Of Kotte that’s near Colombo
Noise and ceremony
These old wild elephants
Why do they have to be
Subjected to such ostentation
A function to the full
When will we learn that wildness
It’s a lot of cock and bull
Wild elephants want peace and quiet
Not a rabble everywhere
All these bloody ceremonies
It really isn’t fair
