Underneath a broken car
She lay grasping some shade
Hairless,mange made her a victim
A mother who was laid
Bare beneath the dripping oil
And fluids and the rust
Of how her world Now upside down
With no one she could trust
Clearly smarting every movement
Reminding her that she
Once had puppies at her breast
And love and care to free
Her from life’s ugly passages
How disinclined she felt
As the mange bore down in her
The weakest of cards were dealt
Suffering uncertainty
Hesitatingly
She never had the love
And no one close no one to be
There for her, I realise those feelings
For I feel
the Poet grasps her wbere-for-all
And sees really how real
It is to change allegiance
To just break with the past
To want to heal to want to share
Out of how you are cast
The mange kills many street dogs
It’s parasitic woe
And the angels love and attention
Will see it up and go
IV fluids medicines
Lots of love and care
Medicated bathing
Twice a week, a fair
Treatment warm and cooling
Loving hands to hold
Rebuilding all those anxious thoughts
All Worth their weight in gold
How soon we feel rejected
By friends who pass us by
Who spurn us and who turn us
Into hopeless souls that cry
Hourly in pursuit of thoughts
Of choices from before
The power of good and of loving
When the spirit is new and raw
Loneliness is a killer
Having somebody to care
Heals your mind and body
And gradually aware
That life has much to offer
How the angels helped you heal
A wagging tail a playful jaunt
How it does reveal
The greatest love for any soul
Is the tenderness we hold
For one another in our hearts
No matter now how old
We are how grey, how wizened
The heart is always there
And “Pepper” found her youthfulness
And so became aware
Her skin was black and shiny
The mange it was no more
The angels were around her
No reason to feel sore
They were full of smiles and love
And her tears now were of joy
The poet shares an emotion
Which he must now employ
Loving those who then love others
what Is reciprocity
