Gender equality Rwanda and elsewhere

After the genocide
The burden for all
Survivors demanded
And essential tool
The heart and the soul of a nation
To be
Brought closer together
For eternity

Women those widowed
And mentally stressed
Within their pure gender
Were always on test
They struggle with life now
More so than men do
though maybe in the background
That is my view

A realization that is often lost
In actuality really its cost
Women a great deal
Which life seldom sees
But this is whats happened
Despite all their pleas

Societies listening ability fails
To see how they suffer
Compared to the males
Its like this all over
The planet today
They are taken for granted
In everyway

So much of their burden
Infact is unpaid
No job descriptions
But on them is laid
Vast responsibility
And many do
Work outside of the home
They do this too

There should be equality
It has to be
A balance in all things
Intrinsically
Respect for all of the work
Women do
Unpaid or paid
That matters that view

Of life and its consequences
Do Matter so
Gender equality
Then it will flow
The blockage is often male domination
Prejudiced really base exploitation

Much of it lost in the ether of life
The lack of experience causes the strife
What was expected traditionally
But is often unutterable tragically
And those demands affect temperament
Cardinal points when the body is spent
To still be expected to labour so long
Gets into the marrow and really its wrong

So confrontation is an issue abroad
There isnt an antidote most can afford
A world of difference apparently
But as truth would have it reality
Is that we have to be equal
Thats the only way
We need that awareness to work through each day

And so opportunities have to be shared
With a level playing field problems are aired
No discrimination reciprocity
That is the way out and how it should be
Based on respect, set on an even keel
So the springboard of life
Can then only appeal
If we enter lifes journey with a disparate view
Then even the minutiae become unmanageable too

There has to be change respect has to be
There on the board so all of us see
Ignorance that too needs filing away
And arrogance gentleman what can I Say
We need to value the ladies and we
Need to give them respect and we hopefully
Will channel our thoughts into a mindful need
And if we can do that, then we all will succeed
