Mendoza Zoo in Argentina

They officially opened
This zoo long ago
Back before I was born
And now some 1300 animals
Have to live there torn
Out of their natural environment
And taken to be there for good
But rarely are zoo’s that effective
At doing what they really should

Its a compromise thats pure and simple
And a business will never succeed
Really whats fitting for assorted species
Is care and trained staff to the need
Animals need full attention
Coming from all parts of the world
Arturo from the cold and kept in the heat
Really just where he was hurled

Baking in heat where morality flies
In the face of creation each day
Ethicality suffers its patently wrong
Wrongheadedness i have to say
An arrogance born from their ignorance
And misjudgement that really is cruel
Wild animals forced into tiny cramped cages
Is surely the wirk of the fool

Its no labour of love for the people
And its hell for the animals there
Not understanding their habitats surely
Is why so many see despair
And angst and anxiety calling
Its a prison for them anyway
No water in the hottest conditions
Overcrowding too and so they pay

World wide petitions for arturo
But ignored by the zoo even so
He should have been taken to somwhere much colder
But the zoo said they he should be on show
Clearly the bear was distrssed all the time
In a dirty old pool with no toys
Neglected all dayand no where to lay
Out of the sun so no joys

Its clear trip adviser is showing
Several vile statements about
The total inadequacy of the all pens
Which really left nothing to doubt
Its far from a sanctuary status
Its animal rights issues are
Clearly a matter if importance
With no one we could call a tzar

To oversee kinndness to animals
To see they have adequate meals
Water when ever and lots of endeavour
To answer the constant appeals
Staff to be on hand at all times
Based around compassion and care
Not thrown in cages all cramped up and dirty
That cause each if them much despair

You cant run a profitable business
With live animals it isnt fair
If people dont come through the turnstiles
And the zoo staff are so not aware
Animals have to be fed well
Their anxiety rises each day
Locked in their cages kept there for ages
With their home probably so far away

MEndoza zoo now needs closing
Its immoral to run things this way
Under the heat it is wrongful
Making the prisoners pay
Sickness is rife in the compound
Malingerers clearly perform
Badly and sadly the animals
Most of them live in a storm

Where’s the integrity
Someone must know
The moral fibre
The too and fro
The conscientiousness
The candour too
The principled reasoning
Behind this zoo

Being gawped at and teased
By the children
Its degrading and causes them fear
With no exercise they all suffer
Its iniquitous to keep them here
Their duty of care it is missing
And not enough staff to give care
And the zoo disinclined to improve things
Though the visitors are clearly aware

Feedback is grossly neglected
ARgentina must stand and be seen
Cruelty of all of these animals
Really it is now obscene
They are afterall really the voiceless
And without the order they will
Suffer the chaos and negiigent threats
That are bound alas now to spill

As takings go down so the food quality
Is likely to suffer and that cannot be
Animals must get their portions right
And it doesnt make sense to eat too late at night
MEndoza Zoo is letting the side
Down I accept this
And there’s no place to hide
For a bear or a Lion
Who must lay in the heat
Without water or care
And some quality meat

Clearly its well beyond its sell by date
The training is poor and the staff
Are not great
The cages too small
And the pens cramped and old
They are either too hot
Or wet and cold
MEndoza needs closing
And, right away
Its an insult for caring
Getting worse by the day
