Who hides behind the clouds of dust

The quandary and the embarrassment
Of Japan in the forefront
Of dealing now in Ivory
Of being in the hunt
There is an impasse that’s for certain
Dishonesty abounds
China gets the bulk of the blame
And the elephants heart that pounds

It’s burdensome and toilsome
For the wicked walk this earth
With unnavigable persuasion
For them what it is worth
Ivory it’s convenient and The Japanese
They know
That Dealing in it is possible
And their market share does grow

They are so unreliable
Many traders there
Work out in the darkness
They really do not care
It’s all about the money
Ethics means nothing
And safeguarding the elephants
Really doesn’t bring

Any satisfaction into their
Golden pot
It really is their cussedness
And contrariness and a lot
Of elephants are being killed
Because of their refrain
There is no cooperation
And they do not know disdain

Perhaps 350,000 exist
We cannot be sure
Compared to 624,000
When someone shut the door
But Japan it used its influence
And the illegal trade did grow
Despite traffic’s ooriginal draft
The redactions had to go

And so they were dismantled
And what we see today
Is elephants are being slaughtered
No matter what we say
There really
is no stopping Japan
For all she does
Is get around the system
Creating one great buzz

Much of this is senseless
These handsome Giants are
Being shot down in their hundreds
In Africa they scar
The plains their wondrous bodies
Torn a’sunder there
Gunned down in their hundreds
In what is pure despair

Connivance and collusion
Are the order of the day
The pachyderms are on the back foot
They cannot get away
Conspiracy and complicity
It’s money talks and we
See elephant after elephant
Slaughtered now daily

Out of 37 traders
30 were prepared
In Japan to go illegal
So the elephants can’t be spared
There is a heartless element
A hardness of the soul
The aristic wrangling ruffians
Who actually control

The present trade in ivory
Which is a major crime
The great mother is reeling
In her pit of slime
The blood of giants washes
Over everything we see
Machine gunned by the blackguards
Schooled on infamy

And there is defiance
Amongst the traders there
Illegal is ok they say
They all are aware
Fraudulent descriptions
Is the manner that they use
No one cares a monkeys
Just how they abuse

The system and its concluded
What we have to do
Is ban the sale of Ivory
Worldwide old and new
It really is the only way
To save the Giants breath
We have to now protect them all
And understand each death

Is really of our making
With Japan on the way
To being the lead player
In every single way
It’s not only the Dolphins
And whales we know about
It’s the elephants and their ivory
And the all the laws they flout
