The band of mercy

The nurturing qualities women possess
Made them more able to readdress
The cruelty suffered by animals who
In years gone by their neglect was so true
In the late eighties 5 women agreed
To a coming together with a will to succeed
In teaching the children that animals are
There to be loved and respected and to star
In their very own lifetimes as angels for they
Did otherwise suffer severely each day

It began with the carriage horse sweltering so
Carrying passengers yes too and fro
In amongst all that traffic the fumes And the rest
And passengers and luggage their poor souls did test
So the ladies set up Making their voices heard
They cared and they shared and every word
Was listened to clearly and gradually they
Preached the message abroad everywhere every way

What strikes me today is the women who fail
Who are getting involved with the cruelty trail
Hurting the animals murdering them too
Or working in factories as part of the crew
Where are your spirits your nurturing sense
All your understanding why get so tense
You must back away from this cruelty trail
Be feminine ladies never be like a male

Matriarchal the goddess nurturing gleams
Caring and sharing and loving in streams
Beauty and brilliance and charm and appeal
And glamour and grace no never conceal
You are the light forces in the dark sky
To now see you hunting and killing I sigh
All that meat eating is making you feel
Less feminIne ladies And far far from real
letting the side down which will never do
Harm no one be comforting always stay true
