Just a totally beautiful Spring day
Pripyat sparkled and sang
The trees were resplendent
The people were happy
And nobody heard the Big Bang
.
Existence was out there and working
Reality felt in its core
Immortal eternal undying

Part of the soul of the day
And The nuclear power plant
And deactivation was happening
Not far away

It was some experimentation
A peacefulness shattered and where
They Felt the floor tremble
And a twelve hundred tonnesm,
Blasted out into the air

The reactor became the inferno
Uranium and graphite did spew
Into the sky
like a great gauzy cloud
Such vivid colours on high

Orange and sky blue and blood red
This rainbow of sorts filled the sky
The Chernobyl Plant was blowing its top
And nobody really knew why

Fireman without gear fired water
Unaware of the dangers within
The vile radiation a dark evil shroud
A veil of incredible sin

Many young men came and laid down their lives
As columns shot into the sky
This was an emerging monster
And many around now would die
.
A helicopter then few over
A photographer a recording of time
The silence of death the emergence of breath
As out of the dark they did climb

A black hole a tomb of great bearing
The sputum of death closing fast
All the photographs that had been taken
Were black and strangely aghast

The graphite was burning uranium
The heat took it into the sky
It showed extreme radiation
And many alas now would die

And Pripyat not far away
Went on with its business
Nobody knew
Til, the army came by and did say

Soldiers with masks on
Were joining them
Out in the city then they
Got wind of something and began to be
Fearful about it let’s say

All of this time nobody knew
People were going about
Their lives just as normal
Though reality
Was that toxins were without a doubt

Massively frighteningly dreadful
They should have been indoors for sure
Taking their iodine Windows all sealed
But of course no one knew
In the raw

Of the moments the hours as the toxins
Came down

It was not till they evacuated the city
And everyone in the town

They just got two hours notice
And buses came by
To take them away from the place
They say there was really no panic at all
The old ones thought it a disgrace

everyone thought they were lied to
The invisible enemy was
Out there extending its evil
And really all that was because

No one was given any warning
Atomic refugees they
All had received lethal doses
The ghost town was born on that day

The risks clearly were underestimated
And lies were put out sadly by
The reactor would be working soon
It’s enough to make everyone cry

Secrecy and so many lies
Radiation into the skies
Blowing this way blowing that
No one knew actually where they were at

Ukraine Sweden too
Radio active dust came through
SPy satellites discovered smoke
And a gaping hole clearly no joke

1200 tonnes of magma burning
White hot so most concerning
The whole of Europe apparently
At risk from this catastrophe

Radiation was everywhere
Terribly high so much despair

They really had to fight the blaze
It was such a dangerous phase

To seal up the reactor and put out the fire
A Sand and boric acid pyre

Growing hotter every day
Men had to do it come what may
Drenched in sweat and radiation
Throwing up no celebration

All the working souls who came
Would die that was their claim to fame

So many people died alas
Bone marrow burns
A whole great mass
Of victims came but they all died
Flesh eating wounds all from inside

This was a major catastrophe
But people didn’t know and we
Watched the May Day celebrations
and most then suffered operations

Hundreds of people sickened by
The fall out raining from the sky

The parade of death is what they called
And exodus of the well schooled

And lost for sure

An invisible enemy none could see

Radioactive and unjust

Radiation went everywhere
Over Bavaria They did share
The toxic clouds with everyone

People sickened and were lost
But no one prepared to Accept the cost
The nuclear industry once again
Fucked off and left us to feel the pain

And now the Tories in the UK
Are signing us up to what far and away
More serious more terrifying
In SOmerset it’s death defying

There have been earth quakes already there
And when it comes the mean despair
The lies they tell
Will be everywhere

MAy and the rest will be underground
In their perfect bunkers
They will be bound

And the people will dieAs they have done
Before
Losing their homes and their lives for sure

Who pays the piper the people of course
Who go up in smoke as a matter of course
Democracy rules but only for fools
As The nuclear industry breaks all the rules

And the new world order thanks them
For they are the ruling class
