Corporate shadows illustrate
What Sea World really is about
Orca Nirvana was always there
Then came the Oceans of despair
Captivity was always wrong
There were no positives all along
Just the pathological pursuit of power
And profit building on the hour
Rubbing shoulders with those that are seen
To be against cruelty that machine
Set up in 1954
Rescue and reform unseen before
Business as usual wait and see
The edicts from one Joel Manby
Are a coat of lacquer on a base
To try somehow to improve their place
An amnesty of sorts rolled out
Its the killer whales that its about
And Tilikum more especially who killed
3 souls so tragically
Its clear to all that captivity
Was wholly wrong and cannot be
Allowed to happen ever again
In reality it was insane
But it will not change
They will stay
In their measly ponds
Till their judgement day
However long that is ahead
Till every one of them drops dead
And meanwhile the tug of war begins
The human society somehow wins
A reason really to more closely be
Shoulder to shoulder it seems to me
The apparent liaison gives both some face
An identity a place in space
A mutual path to kingdom come
Both beating on the cruelty drum
For Seaworld its their arrogance
in some ways its a new romance
Between the Orca and their perception
Really what has been the reception
They were formerly thought of as killer whales
But Sea World changed all that
Its trails
Took the Orca to dizzy heights
Of acceptance really and hard won rights
Thats not true no not at all
Wild animals can be seen, the rule
Of thumb is watching them in the wild
Not in small tanks being defiled
Whale watching is the thing to do
From a boat from the shore to enjoy that view
Not in captivity all that has done
Is perturbed the protestors
Its has come undone
Massive numbers have risen to say
Captivity is not the way
The oceans are the place to be
Not sea worlds tanks of infamy
Corporate shadows to me are wrong
Besides they don’t sing from the same song
Book
Thus morphing into where
Previously we saw despair
For me theres a wrangle on the street
A collision course as both compete
For different themes for certain ways
And at the end somebody pays
The untimeliness and disparity
And what is the ambiguity
Sea World remains and is going to be
Grateful for rescues on Land and sea
And it will look after similarly
Rescued earthlings of the sea
What have they to feel proud about
Evolving understanding despite the nations doubt
It had nothing to do with you
It was watching and learning
Which brought it into
The perception of man
For the wild places where
They saw the killer whales
Breaths in the air
Not in dingy blue pools
In theme parks oh no
Those captured animals
Were tortured so
Instinctive knowledge
From an ancestral age
its in their consciousness
From a past page
Whether a wild soul or a lost soul
Inside
an artificial chlorinated pond
All relied
On the perfection the ocean devolved
The wondrous prestige
That the currents had solved
Which evokes in their spirit
Their coming their whole
But is blocked by the prison
That pickles their soul
To me this is sacrosanct
And shouldn’t be
saddled With untruths
And simplicity
Its a big complex world out there
Still to be seen
Its bond with existence
Incredibly green
This amalgamation of missions
To me, doesn’t mix very well
Their fluidity
Is not so conducive
And the animals might
Not feel the wholeness
As in fact right
Oceans have everything
We need to see
All captive orcas
Back where they should be
Not in these tanks
But in sea pens
At least
This present uttering
Is famine or feast
It represents disarray
And turmoil to me
A convulsion of conscience
That just shouldn’t be
There will still be captivity
And thats ongoing
Supposedly under the auspices of knowing
Rescued those terms nebulously
Drawn forth from capture
And exclusory
I just don’t feel comfortable
With this marriage today
Its seems pretty preclusive
And just not the way
Forward
Togetherness on equal terms
Again exposes a great can of worms
Profit and power
The psychopaths flower
That blossoms enticing those who
Feel the great sense of need
That came out of each seed
Its genetic blue print to do
We all began where we all began
In the oceans where light sprang to show
Where myriad specimens accompanied us all
At still greater depths they did grow
In what is shallow pools entertainment venues
An assemblage of people who are told
What to expect in the lavish arena
Which is being constantly sold
A barrage of sounds reach the Orca’s
Who conform to the parlance of those
Who feed them with dead fish and antibiotics
With prozac and more I suppose
Repetition is then the new catchword
Monotony poses and will
Eternity measured in moments
In the unfathomable world of the still
Posterity will not remember
The mutable changes you made
Those tilikum babies you are holding
They follow their father whose weighed
In with 3 deaths and such neglect
Such squalor such sadness and pain
For the rest of their lives
They will suffer the angst
And the permanence which was the main
Sadness for causing such protest
On the deaths in the Sea World enclave
And to the collaboration’,,kk
Which time sadly can never save.
Composed with the help of my loveliest friend
In all the world.
