Antartica

An unbelievable sky above
Of almost cornflower blue
In this marvellous polar light
Great ice bergs melting through
Myriad icicles dripping
Gaping holes azure
A hostile place where diadems
Seemingly endure

Tranquil floating ice rocks
Ice sheets floating here
The worlds largest desert beckons
In waters bright and clear
Ultra violet glaring is blinding
Wild life they
The blind seals and the penguins
Wander off each day

The temperatures are rising
And melting ice we see
The west coasts bleeding profusely
Now into the sea
Low lying cities all around our world
May soon be lost
Sea levels rising dangerously
At an enormous cost

Large areas a melting
Rocks being exposed
Moss and algae begin to grow
This now could have posed
So many problems for us all
A greening is underway
Ice core sampling tells us much
Tells us soon we shall pay

One positive are CFC’s
Which the world has cut back on
The ozone hole is reducing
Its may be a time till its gone
But its moving in the right direction
And this could a case
A saviour in so many ways
For the present human race

The krill are clearly dying
As the sea heats up they will
Disappear completely
The penguin with their skill
Will have to find new diets
And we humans ought to try
And leave the Krill alone ourselves
For otherwise they will

Perish in the oceans
For thats a Penguins meal
And whales too love their tastiness
For them too it is real
Man gets his nutrition
From a variety so why
Come into the wild to steal the krill too
It is high

in nutrients and precious oils
But the wild ones we deny
Them the food they were born to eat
Underneath the sky
The coldest driest windiest continent
On this planet earth
Antartica is now shared science
Really it is worth
so much to the people
On this precious land
For Realising Antartica
Helps us understand
