A dogs life

Existing as we do
Beside the human species, who
Can be very cruel to us
But also very kind
We have to hope
Who ever chooses us
To join their family
Is one of the sweet loving types
This factor underlined

A warm house
Food and water
A chance to be a friend
To spread our love to humans
And hopefully to send
A lot of positivity
Into their hearts so they
Think of us as family
In every sort of way

Thats a dogs life actually
To live really to please
To romp and play
Around each day
With the ultimate of ease
Not be distanced from them
Chained up in a kennel all day
A bone thrown at us now and then
A gruff word or two
“Come on catch the burglars
Thats why we got you”
Left to swelter in the sun
Or freeze when winter blows
Left unloved for all our lives
To be friended by the crows

Who come and share whatever care
And then they fly away
They have the spirit they have the power
And the common sense to say
Its sad that you are so unloved
And uncared for Mr Dog
That you wither with emotion
In what is a frozen bog
Your water is a bowl of ice
Your kennel stark and raw

To be a human who has no thoughts of love
And does ignore
Your lively canine spirit
We crows are very sure
The Kennel house you live in
Is a human trait gone wrong
They are all now passed their sell by date
An on true earth don’t belong

So if you know of a dog around
Who is chained up and alone
Love is not about being gruff
Or chucking them a bone
Its all about inclusion
Giving them a share
Loving them for ever
And showing them real care
