The child and the fish

The actuality of it
The blatancy of life
The fish lies on the rocky shore
Clearly in such strife
The child’s eyes see a situation
A stillness unblushingly
A state of grace and purity
Immaculate and free

It does not move it seems alien
It should be in the sea
In a shroud of innocence
And incorruptibility
Why does it lie there motionless
Its condition though pristine
I don’t think that its breathing
Why is god so mean?
Thats what the child is thinking
Its parents at its side
Sitting at the waters edge
With its spirit to confide
Why is it you have come here
Are you in much pain
I am splashing water on you
Again and again and again

But you just are not moving
I touch you and you won’t respond
You really are so beautiful
Your golden scales I am fond
Of golden scales and your great big eye
Its black as night and you
Can see me I believe you can
And that you hold me true

I really cant stop crying mother
This sweet soul lying here
Letting me pet her
Is she dying
Is she feeling fear

“She is passing darling”
Don’t fret she is on her way
To heaven please don’t cry dear
But mummy its no way

For such a beautiful fishy
To lie here motionless
I feel so very sorry
For her and for all her stress

The fish had passed on clearly
Who knows why for she
Was beautiful in the sunlight
On the sand beside the sea
