LAIKA

It was indeed a sad day
All those years ago
The 3rd of november
Now we do know
A sweet little dog
They called LAika
Was shot
Into orbit
To die
Nothing to like a lot

Wandering the streets of Moscow
This hound
Was plucked from the cold
Where she was found
In 1957 launched into the sky
Everyone knew this poor soul she
Would die

Except her, fixed into this
Tiny cramped place
And shot into the sky
At a terrible pace
Alone once again
Imagine her pain
Imagine her thoughts
As life would soon drain

All the technology
It made no sense
Hoisted her high
But so many were dense
As the clouds she was flying through
For her sacrifice
Was really for nothing
Those who did entice

Her into that capsule
With kisses and smiles
Knowing she was going thousands
Of miles
She would die in that
Capsule frustrated as hell
She couldn’t escape
That fact we knew well

I feel for her sweet heart
i feel for her soul
Tempted to scream
At the terrible role
We placed this young baby
We openly knew
She was going to die
In a hot house of stew

Overheating and stress
She exploded with it
Just pulled apart
By all of our shit
We are the violent ones
Experimentation
On these dear animals
Is not our salvation

They are our mentors
And we just abuse
Sweet caring Laika
Couldn’t refuse
To journey
The kiss
She was sent on her way
And Moscow was happym
Thats what they say

The trainers though
They felt the pain in her eyes
When they kissed her and loved her
And told her the lies
Strapped her so tightly
And bade her farewell
Knowing they sent a sweet angel
To HELL

Human beings disgust me
Her name was Laika meaning little curly haired one
She only had 10 days worth of food and water
But lasted very little time before being pulled apart by the extraordinary forces
They say the reason why they chose a female
Was because she didn’t have to lift her leg to urinate
How bloody sad is that!
