The great Earl grey
Visited Susan today
Bound for sub saharan Africa
Thats what he did say
With his yellow and green
Tailored shirt
And black legs all the way
Up to his graceful body
Wagging and au fait
With the routes he would be taking
Across the oceans blue
Across the great red mountains
Rising from the dew
He is, now on the red list
Is he going to the wall
He says it has been difficult
Really for one and all
A 43 per cent drop in numbers
Which is bad
Spring was cold
And summer wet
And really he feels sad
Reaching Susans garden
His favourite interlude
Before the long long journey
To meet up with his brood
His wings well oiled and ready
His feet no corns at all
His eyes as clear as a sunny day
Just waiting for his friend to call
And he a yellow wagtail
Dancing as he does
Waiting for the love of his life
Who just gives him a buzz
He wags his tail for no one
Better than this lass
And they are off to Africa
If they have, enough gas
