David Sheldrake Trust

A poachers poisoned arrow
Shot into the leg
Of a male bull elephant
Then about to peg
Out with hours of agony
That ivory is worth
So much to the poachers
And the hunters
Planet earth

Is witnessing the horror
4 elephants an hour
Being bloody murdered
Each one of them is our
True responsibility
We must save them
We must try
The David Sheldrake wildlife trust
Help many not to die

On hand to give their expertise
The antibiotics that can
Save elephants that are poisoned
Or caught in snares their plan
Is costly but they push themselves
Where possible they are there
There have been over 2000 arrests
But The poachers do not care
One bull elephants tusks alone
Can sell for 400000dollars they
Exported to China can really save the day
For the black market traders
But the elephants now are
Suffering and may not survive
The scourge now near and far

35,000 elephants at least
Now every year
Despite aerial surveillance
And drones still so much fear
Poisoned arrows
Automatic guns
Spears
And awful snares
Africa is suffering
Such losses and it CARES

And the costs are forever rising
The veterinaries and their drugs
Rob Brandford the director
I bet it bloody bugs
His efforts and his organisation
To save them as they do
They really need our help as well
So help them please will you

And watch out for ivory being sold
Anywhere if you go to the far east don’t buy it
Under any circumstances however good the deal appears
