Doodlebug

Doodlebug is no name for a baby Kangaroo
A v1 bomb whoever named him did they have clue
What its like to give names to animals today
To be named after an explosive device
To me its wrong to say
Your name is so negative
So horrible in fact
Calling a baby by the name of a bomb
How would you react

Sadly little roo’s are often murdered at the scene
By hunters pulled from the mothers pouch
And stomped on its obscene
To think that some Australians
Lack that empathy
Toward the iconic kangaroo
And kill them tragically

So this young soul
Is found upon the wayside
And presented with a teddy bear
A cuddly little companion
And just like any child
He really truly doesn’t want to share

The little bear its his
And he wants to keep it
Play with it like any child would play
And this a little kangaroo
With all the playfulness its true
All I want to do now is to say

Change the little fellows name
You know he really cares
What they have called him
After a bomb that kills earthlings
He compares
Himself with a great big metal bomb
That explodes and hurts his friends
I think we ought to change his name
And who knows where this ends
