Maple Leaf Poultry

It rolls into the slaughterhouse
Many feet high
Orange and yellow crates
Where in doth lie
Injured and sick chickens
The sadness thats there
As we look through the slits
It is real hard to bear

Clearly they are hopeful
But equally they
Expect death, each breath
Is a bonus today
Or is it, for life for these birds
Has been rough
And many of them clearly have had enough

Those of the public consuming their meat
Their wings and their breasts
And even their feet
So dumb to the cruelty
They cant even think
How these chicken boys felt
Some don’t see the link

With death, that we understand
And they do too
Soon their heads severed
Bleeding out who
In their right minds would ignore
Them consumers of course
If it were not these chickens
Some might eat a horse!
The burger fanatics
Or tandoori boys
All that they see is
The spiciest joys
Of picking a chicken
And eating it fast
With lashings of chilli
And cold beer
The blast
For carnivores without a care in the world
Who don’t even think
That their victims were hurled
Into this life and out if it too
Drenched in what was a chemical stew

Thankyou to all you ladies and gents down there screaming blue murder you are hero’s
