Consuming passions

How we feel so let down
You expound your theories well
You tell us that you love us
Being so under our spell
A blessedness is over you
Your golden age of care
Such unbelievable fulfilment
Enjoying being there
Almost intoxicated
By the pathos that’s produced
The utter inspiration
That clearly just feels loosed
How humbling how dramatic
Our company becomes
How enlivening and inspiring
How truthfully it numbs
To love us as you profess you do
And then at a certain time
You actually want to eat us
To agitate and climb
Into another body
Ours we have to say
You want to send us to our death
Steal our lives away
Then it is love of another kind
The love of taste for you
You want to see our inner workings
And that is what you do
Tell us that you love us
Roasted in some broth
Deep fried in some raging oil
And skim away our froth
As our skin just crackles
You crunch upon us, you
Told as that you loved us
You told us all our lives through
for us it’s terribly tragic
We feel yes so let down
If this was love real love I mean
How could you ever drown
Us in the fire and fury
And gobble us at will
How could you leave us screaming
And say you love us still
