Solidarity must be the word we all live by

Burnaby Mountain

where indigenous souls

come together with varying roles

to fight BIG ENergy  at every turn

for they are here to really burn

corporate power

will watch us die

the tar sands pipeline

don’t belie

its tragic  statement to us all

who love this planet

and hear its call

the drums must pound

the horns must blow

arrests must come

the human glow

of heartfelt emotion

will conquer those

corporate scum whose

presence grows

government’s want to crack

their whip

local communities they will rip

us all apart its energy

but not the kind we want to see

our land, our rivers our precious air

in fact the mountain and everywhere

we must respect the guardians who

offer protection in what they do

the crude tar sands its evil sweeps

like a  giant serpent it never sleeps

its vomit carried underground

and in its blackness all feel drowned

the police the corporate slaves

are sent

local people now intent

on arresting us

on giving us hell

because of the story we now tell

they have wives here and children too

and we stand firm and do what we do

to protect the whole community

from the corporate waves of insanity

but they clothe themselves in their masks of fear

with their taser guns and their threats unclear

the bully boys in the governments pay

who are there to give us all away

the land is sacred as we  know

the tar sand monster it will blow

through our forests and into our lakes

and maybe  inside our snow flakes

it cannot smother us  in the air

of its ugliness we are all aware

Kinder Morgan must  use its ears

blind to the peoples falling tears

brain dead  corporate mindsets they

move in ruin and move away

that’s their edict that’s their prize

their guts are bigger than their eyes

they cannot feel the human price

they move on where their land is nice

far away where all is well

miles away from tar sands hell

that’s left for indigenous people who

compared to the likes of them  accrue

less they can get on with what they’ve got

Kinder Morgan don’t care a jot

their bank accounts are rolling high

so what if a few people die

energy is  the powerful source

and proves to Harper that they are on course

solidarity from all of us

we send to you and we discuss

the evil that today’s is yours

for maybe tomorrow the probable cause

affects us all  yes all who care

whereupon  dear friends we join you there

in spirit maybe

and our hearts and minds

offer hope along those lines

a partnership of souls who feel

a unification that’s clearly real

a  symbiotic release of thought

a connection if you like that’s caught

up in a universal way

that’s hand in glove now so to say
