Butterball

I find it so objectionaable

that people would ever call

a turkey after another type

of food

a butterball

to denote a round big breasted soul

at what is a premium price

and subjected one would imagine

to perhaps a roll of dice

feathers flying every which way

kicked and chucked and bashed and dashed

these are great big birds, no matter

kicked like footballs bodies slashed

grotesque limb deformities happen

past wounds all the cruelty

no vet around to help to heal them

negligence for all to see

bloodied wings flies feasting on them

maggots bring there own despair

this a haven for the dying

and the tortured still aware

feeling sentient birds creative

thrown about and damaged by

the ignorance of would be workers

who clearly do not care and why

they pick up and drag such heavy beings

across the cobbles painfully

it really must be so disturbing

doing this for all to see

clearly aiming at an opening and smashing

their wings against the wire

this is torture and dreadful handling

the cruelty is really dire

handlers have to be given training

these no brainers need the sack

the management they need a  hiding

seeing this who would come back

to buy a butterball thus knowing

the terror that these birds go through

lack of care lack of inspection

with all the damage that does accrue

swearing c
