The Black Snake or the Trans Canada pipeline

Jasmine Thomas

what a courageous fighter

came from British Columbia

to tell

the indigenous communities

just what it means

The  Keystone XL

pipeline

it means hell

the greatest threat to our land

and our heritage

our air

our water

everything we possess

Trans Canada

such  tremendous opposition

their proposals

will bring unbelievable stress

the black snakes wriggles furiously

across Lakota land

calamitous confusion

who can understand

the demons working

planning this filthy fossil fuel

Enbridge BC Tar sands

is honestly so cruel

taking away the sacred lands

and the environment they need

rivers all their precious spirit

this is where they bleed

all will fight proposals

to devastate and destroy

riding roughshod

over everything

that the indigenous know as joy

First Nations people

clearly are up in arms today

fighting for their future

for their lives, one has to say

it will spell degradation

on a scale beyond all thought

the black snake cometh

firing on all cylinders

distraught

peaceful confrontation

of peoples near and far

this ugly nasty repulsive crude

dragged out from the tar

its  a terrible proposition

causing untold harm

and this is really why they are up in arms

and far from calm

the bully boys Big Oil

as such

with their coffers want to see

their millionaires get richer

whilst the others

destiny

is lost in mists of ugliness

as the black snake writhes

and bites

and takes out all the freedom

that the first nation invites

this is to be a battle

if Obama waves his flag

the Indigenous will feel the pain

and there will be such drag

coming from just every quarter

this a fight to death

for the sacred lands

are in the hands

of the lakota

and the breath

of all first national peoples

who have suffered long and hard

at the hands of politicians

and now they are on their guard

for the see the black snake coming

it is seriously a pain

creating such revulsion

from them all which is now plain
