The Hare

Whether its advantageous or not
to go to the best schools around
it certainly needs well heeled parents
for the fees now do rather astound
with 3 terms a year and £11,000
for each term
that old silver spoon in the mouth of a babe
is something you’d want to affirm
I suppose you’d expect the best teachers
and also a syllabus where
it would hold you in good stead whatever you did
and spearhead your leadership flair
so to hear of a Hare hunting training day
it kind of took me by surprise
hunting for hare has been banned long ago
it finally met its demise
in 2005 in the United Kingdom
though it still does go on elsewhere they
believe its a sport of sorts but here it is banned
and as such why we teach it today
to me its irrelevant nonsense
its a cruel hearted nasty affair
and as such with the fees being paid every term
to spend one whole day I despair
for me it is cruel its a bloodsport
its illegal here so what’s the point
it happens in Ireland its happens in Spain
but in England this does disappoint
there really cannot be a reason
unless they know something that we
do not know they may repeal the act
then of course I suppose the toffs
will want to be
part of the hunting fraternity
part of the gentry lets say
but as things stand now
its illegal
and so Eton really should pay
more attention to this and be wary
of what it includes and for why
to me it is not high class thinking
to chase a soul until it does die

animals do have a place here
they were created
by the same higher force
what gives us the right
to hunt and to kill them
it doesn’t make sense
and of course
Eton should realise some
of its students will not be forthcoming
for they
will not want to hunt down and kill
every animal
that might just get into their way

but it sends out some rather strange messages
here
If a parent I would want to know
why they are doing this
what is the reason
its not that Hare number do grow
Nature knows best of their movements
creation is balanced and true
its really not for us to meddle
though meddle of course we do do

I think Eton should now be wary
hare coursing or whatever its called
is not what I’d consider to be in the syllabus
and someone should best now be hauled
over the coals for this day at the hunt
that is probably covering more
of more relevant studies to do with one’s buddies
than really ignoring the law
